We are happy to help you process your out-of-network benefits by providing a super-bill for you to give to your insurance company.  Insurance companies vary significantly as to whether they cover ADHD or ASD testing.  We are not in-network with any insurance providers at this time.  Make sure to contact your insurance company before testing to determine if any pre-authorization is required and to obtain an estimate of your benefits.  It is important to note that many of our providers are in-network with insurance companies while they provide other services with other companies.  Insurance companies may not pay attention to this detail when providing quotes, so make sure to point out that we are out of network when doing child testing with Perceptive Testing LLC.

The problem is that many different problems can the same symptoms as  ADHD, Autism, and Learning Difficulties.  These disorders are primarily diagnosed by “ruling out” alternative explanations and documenting consistent symptoms.  Depression, anxiety, and common childhood health problems can all cause many of the same symptoms as these disorders.  So can adolescent substance use or trauma.  Cognitive difficulties or learning disabilities can frustrate children to the point in scholastic setting that they have many of the same symptoms of ADHD, but for different reasons.

Also, having ADHD makes it much more likely that there will also be other problems.  Many of the risk and genetic factors for ADHD and ASD overlap with other disorders.  And the additional stress and difficulties associated with having ADHD or ASD can make it more likely that other problems come up.  Statistically, only having one of these difficulties without also meeting criteria for multiple DSM-5 TR disorders is very rare.

Last but not least, often the diagnosis comes with access to limited resources or controlled interventions.  People might have alternative motivation for pursuing a diagnosis, such as access to meds to sell or educational accommodations that are not necessary.  As such, testing helps prescribers and educators know that the interventions they provide are necessary and legitimate.

At the moment, we do not offer testing for adults.  However, several of our staff also work at Reset Button Counseling LLC, who do provide comprehensive adult ADHD and ASD evaluations. www.resetbuttoncounseling.com
